ANES-ML 2014  Anesthesia & Pain Management Selective  (2 Credits)  
"The goal of the Anesthesiology Rotation is to enhance the medical students' overall knowledge, understanding, and application of pre-op evaluation, perioperative and post Ðoperative care and pain management principles. Students should expect significant interaction with anesthesiologists and other physician extenders specializing in anesthesia and pain management. The rotation will provide a clinical and didactic exposure to all aspects of pre-op, intra-op, post anesthesia and pain medicine in a tertiary care medical center including exposure to acute, chronic, and cancer pain in an adult population. The student will become familiar with the different options for anesthesia and treatment of acute and chronic pain Students will be active participants in care and will be expected to demonstrate learned concepts. "This course is designed to introduce medical students to the basics of anesthesiology. The course covers the principles of anesthesia, pharmacology of anesthetic agents, monitoring techniques, airway management, and anesthesia-related complications. The course will also cover the different types of anesthesia and their indications. Course will focus on human anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. By the end of this course, medical students should have a basic understanding of anesthesiology and the ability to manage anesthesia for routine surgical procedures. "
