HSED-GE 2108 Finding Meaning and Purpose at the American University: A History (3 Credits)
In this course, students explore the place of religion in the 21st century university
through an historical lens. Through readings, discussion, and essays, students examine the radically changed place of religion in the American college and university; tensions from the past that are reflected in 21st century higher education (such as perceived tensions between religion and science); and the historical reasons for the development of the role of "college chaplain”.

HSED-GE 2109 New York University in New York City-A History (3 Credits)
In this course, students explore the history of higher education through a deep dive into the archives and history of New York University in the years just before its bicentennial in 2030. Students gain expertise in using archives and produce a wide range of products from written papers to performances, to multimedia programs
