Trivium and Quadrivium
In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the seven liberal arts were divided into two categories, known as the “trivium” (grammar, logic, rhetoric) and the “quadrivium” (arithmetic, astronomy, geometry, music). At NYU Shanghai, we have several programs that fall within these two categories where students can enrich their studies by exploring a language, creative writing or journalism courses, and the performing arts.
