The Master of Science in Health Law and Strategy program is uniquely designed to provide mid-career leaders with an engaging, comprehensive, and strategic lens into the legal aspects and dynamic landscape of the health sector. As an interdisciplinary graduate degree, this joint degree is taught by expert faculty from NYU Law and NYU Wagner, two top-ranked NYU schools.
Students will gain a broad core understanding of legal issues that affect the highly regulated healthcare industry and its economy, while gaining in-depth critical thinking and relevant analytical skills focusing on strategy, policy, law, and innovation. The hybrid plan of study enables students to complete the program in just 12 months, positioning them to lead further across the health landscape in nonprofit, public, and private sectors.
Admissions
To be admitted to the MS in Health Law and Strategy program, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant professional experience including mid- or senior-level management experience, will be considered.
The admissions process is rigorous and selective. The Admissions Committee considers applicants holistically based on the qualities they will bring to the MS in Health Law and Strategy program.

Offered jointly by NYU Law and NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, the Master of Science in Health Law and Strategy is for experienced professionals from health-related fields looking to enhance their ability to make strategic decisions for their organizations. The program prepares leaders in the health sector to shape the future of their organizations, providing them with critical skills and insights that will enable them to manage strategically within the complex legal context of today’s health sector.
A key goal of the program is to enhance students’ ability to make strategic decisions for their organizations that promote quality, performance, growth, and innovation. To achieve this goal, the program will analyze the foundations, requirements, and dynamics of the legal system as a critical lens for effective strategic management. We will also consider the interplay of law and policy in shaping the current and future operating environment for institutions in the health sector. It is the only graduate degree program for health leaders that integrates and leverages the expertise, resources, and professional networks of a top-ranked law school and a top-ranked healthcare policy and management program.
