Cost of Attendance

Estimated Cost of Attendance for 2025-2026

While the amount you’ll pay for your dental education will vary on a year-to-year basis, due to factors like official tuition and fees, you can get a sense of what to expect with our cost of attendance estimates.

Most of these figures are for dental students attending full time over two semesters; with the exception of students enrolled in programs that start in the Spring semester. Use these figures to help plan and understand the financial commitment that comes with being a student.

The amounts shown are not officially approved until July 2025. Financial aid awards for 2025-2026 are based on estimated expenses which are comparable to the finalized cost of attendance.

Direct and Indirect Expenses

Direct expenses are institutional charges billed to you by New York University via the Office of the Bursar. For example, tuition and fees or room and board (if you are a student residing on campus).

Indirect expenses are estimates of costs that may be associated with your attendance, but are not typically University charges. Examples include books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

Explanation of Costs

Find out more about how we’ve put together our estimated costs for this academic year and important information about borrowing and loans:

Borrowing and Loans

Knowing how much it will cost to attend New York University is important, but so is borrowing only as much as you absolutely need. The costs listed in the links below are suggestions based on our estimate of what it costs to attend New York University. We encourage you to examine your specific expenses and resources to decide how much to borrow or finance. If you take out a federal loan, a mandatory federal loan fee should be included in your cost of attendance budget.

The registration and services fees furnish resources to fund a portion of the budgets for a variety of services, operations, and activities that serve students and enhance University life in support of our academic program. These services may include, but are not limited to, the Registrar, Student Health Center, the Wellness Exchange / Counseling Service, the Wasserman Center, Information Technology, and Student Life.

Private Loans

Private loan interest rates, terms, conditions and eligibility requirements will vary, and the borrower (and co-borrower, if applicable) should first compare a variety of private student loans offered by banks and other education loan providers and apply only for the alternative loan that best suits their needs.

Room and Board

The actual cost of your room and board depends on several factors, including whether you live on or off campus. Important things to keep in mind as you budget for room and board:

  • Off-campus housing in New York City varies depending on housing options, location, number of roommates, amenities, and more.

Personal Costs

Personal costs include miscellaneous expenses like local transportation within New York City.
