Jazz Instrumental Performance (Advanced Diploma)

Program Description

This post-master's Artist Diploma in Jazz Studies enable musicians to further their technique and breadth of repertoire and knowledge. Students can complete the 18-credit diploma in just two semesters. Coursework includes jazz improvisation, arranging and composition and diverse performance and recording opportunities, and extensive faculty mentorship.

Admissions

Admission to graduate programs in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development requires the following minimum components:

• Résumé/CV
• Statement of Purpose
• Letters of Recommendation
• Transcripts
• Proficiency in English

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will:

1. Demonstrate strong research and analytical skills through writing a master's thesis on historical music topics, including musicians, musical styles, and teaching methods organizing all the necessary materials for a studio recording.
2. Demonstrate strong and effective skills in composition, arranging and instrumental performance.
3. Demonstrate strong and effective skills in properly preparing and organizing all the necessary materials for a studio recording.
