The Doctor of Education (EdD) degree program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is designed to prepare experienced professionals to become transformative leaders and policymakers in P-12 education. This program focuses on developing expertise in educational leadership and policy through interdisciplinary perspectives with a strong emphasis on equity. This doctoral program equips leaders with the skills to identify and address significant problems of practice, utilizing research-informed, equity-driven approaches. Students are tasked to design and conduct original research to tackle real-world challenges, using appropriate methodologies to promote systemic change and advance equitable outcomes. Additionally, the program empowers students to contribute to and communicate their research, ensuring their work influences both professional communities and public discourse in ways that drive positive change in educational systems and policies.

Admission to graduate programs in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development requires the following minimum components:
Following completion of the required coursework, students are expected to maintain active status at New York University by enrolling in MAINT-GE 4747 Maintenance of Matriculation. All non-course requirements must be fulfilled prior to degree conferral, although the specific timing of completion may vary from student to student.
