Program Description

The Advanced Certificate in Management and Leadership of Public Service Organizations prepares students to apply their humanistic training in public-facing careers. Courses offered by the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service complement a foundation in Public Humanities by the management and leadership skills in demand at wide-ranging public enterprises including museums, cultural organizations and non-profits.

Admissions

All applicants to the Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) are required to submit the general application requirements, which include:

• Academic Transcripts
• Test Scores (if required)
• Applicant Statements
• Résumé or Curriculum Vitae
• Letters of Recommendation, and
• A non-refundable application fee.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will:

1. Develop an understanding of the history, modes, and societal impact of public engagement by the Humanities.
2. Acquire the skills and experience necessary to consider more broadly the ways in which research and humanistic training can be applied to a large number of public-serving fields.
3. Develop a deeper understanding of effective and efficient management of public organizations which could translate into careers at museums, non-profits, and cultural organizations.
