Philosophy (Minor)

Program Description

Philosophy is the attempt to answer the most fundamental questions concerning the world, ourselves, and the relation between the two. Drawing from both historical and contemporary texts, students explore a broad number of philosophical theories, approaches, and debates. Through the process of argument evaluation, students learn the analytical methods of philosophy, with an emphasis on formal argumentation and formal modeling. Courses are designed to both introduce students to philosophy in general, and to other disciplines, including computer science, biology, and political science. A minor in Philosophy puts students in a position to produce original philosophical work, and keep up with ongoing philosophical conversations.
