Self-Designed Honors Major (SDHM-SHU)

Students design and conduct an independent research project in their area of focus using the theories and methods with which they have become familiar over the course of completing the major. Prerequisite: Open only to Self-Designed Honors majors in the senior year.

Students complete an independent research project in their area of focus using the theories and methods with which they have become familiar over the course of completing the major. Prerequisite: SDHM-SHU 410, Fall Term Self-Designed Honors Capstone Seminar.

This seminar introduces self-designed honors majors to research methods in preparation for the Capstone Honors Independent Study in the spring semester of the senior year. By the end of the course, students will have produced a well-formulated research question, methodological design, and bibliography. Open only to seniors who have been approved as self-designed honors majors. Fulfillment: General Elective.

Students approved for the self-designed honors major conduct independent research under the supervision of their faculty mentors.
