The Studio Art minor allows students who are not enrolled in the BFA in Studio Art to explore three core areas of contemporary studio practice. The 16-credit, 4-course minor offers a dynamic blend of theoretical exploration and hands-on practice. Students have access to a diverse range of courses encompassing 2D, 3D, and media art, with options including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, metalsmithing, photography, digital art, video, and design. Additionally, students can participate in field trips, film screenings, and artist talks, enhancing their understanding of artistic concepts and techniques. To further enrich their experience, minors are encouraged to attend departmental exhibitions and visiting artist lectures, which provide valuable insights into contemporary art practices.
For questions related to the declaration or cancellation of a minor, Steinhardt students can contact the Steinhardt Advisement and Registration Team at steinhardt.advisement.registration@nyu.edu.
