Addressing and understanding policy in areas ranging from education, health, and immigration to sustainability and urban planning is at the heart of NYU Wagner's mission. By combining this approach and expertise with the College of Arts and Science's rigorous curriculum in the social sciences, the joint minor in Public Policy offers both a broad introduction to policy-making and a wide range of electives on specific areas of policy. The minor is a firm foundation for students aspiring to careers in the policy arena as well as those aiming to become engaged and informed citizens.
Students in other NYU schools can apply for the minor in NYU Albert in the My Academics section of the Student Center.
Program Requirements
The minor requires four 4-credit courses (16 credits) completed with a grade of C or better (courses graded Pass/Fail do not count) as outlined below. At least one of the three minor electives must be taken in the College of Arts and Science (-UA).
Courses taken in Wagner count against each CAS student's 24-credit allowance of courses taken in the other units of NYU. In addition, Wagner credits do not count toward the 64-credit UA residency requirement that internal and external transfers to the College must meet.
Credit toward the minors is not given for courses completed with a grade of less than C, or for courses taken on a pass/fail basis.
Students may count one and only one course in this minor toward the requirements of another major or minor. Students intending to double count any courses must contact the other major or minor department to ask whether, and to what extent, that department permits double-counting of courses.
Students may count up to 8 transfer credits (equivalent to two courses) to the minor, subject to faculty review and approval.
