Urology (URO-MD)

URO-MD 4007  Urology Introductory  (2 Credits)  
Typically offered Fall and Spring  
This is an introductory 2-week elective that seeks to introduce the student to the field of Urology. As an introductory elective, the student will be expected to gain a broad understanding of the core principles, foundational knowledge, and essential skills relevant to the specialty through encounters with a diverse range of cases reflective of this specialty. Students will gain this experience through participation in inpatient and outpatient clinical sites, including opportunities in uro-oncology, pediatric urology, female urology, stone disease, male sexual function and fertility.

URO-MD 4008  Urology Advanced  (4 Credits)  
Typically offered Fall and Spring  
This is an advanced 4-week elective that seeks to build on urologic knowledge and experiences gained in the pre-clerkship and clerkship years. It may be used to build upon experience from the 2-week Urology Introductory Elective. As an advanced elective, the student will be expected to serve at the level of a sub-intern. The student will gain a deeper understanding of the core principles, foundational knowledge, and essential skills relevant to the specialty through encounters with a diverse range of cases reflective of this specialty. Students will gain this experience through participation in inpatient and outpatient clinical sites, including opportunities in uro-oncology, pediatric urology, female urology, stone disease, male sexual function and fertility. During the 4-week advanced elective, students will get increased exposure to the care of patients with urologic disease through greater hands-on experiences.
