The course description for TCSB1- GCXXXX Global Sport Immersion II states, “This course concentrates on global issues in sport, and builds on the knowledge and experiences that students gained in Global Sport Immersion I” and “Critical comparisons, evaluations, and analyses will be made between the global site and the one students visited during the Global Sport Immersion I course.” However, it does not appear that TCSB1- GCXXXX Global Sport Immersion I is a prerequisite for Global Sport Immersion II. Please explain.
It appears that each of these courses can be completed in one week abroad. Please explain how these courses would fit in with the students’ coursework on the main campus at NYU. For example, are students likely to complete these immersions experiences during breaks (e.g. winter or spring break)?
A sample program schedule was provided to demonstrate how a student studying part-time could progress through the program. However, a sample program schedule was not provided for full-time students. Given the reduction in program credits, please provide a full-time sample program schedule. Please also demonstrate how a full-time student could complete the program in one calendar year, as indicated in the proposal.
Note: The University requested to “register a part-time study format in addition to the already registered full-time format” in the proposal. However, if a program can be completed on a full-time basis, even if many students choose to take it as part time, the program would be registered as full-time in the IRP. If a program can only be completed on a part-time basis, the not full-time format (N-FT) designation would be added to the program’s record in the IRP. It is not the current practice of this Office to register programs in both the full-time and not full-time formats. Therefore, this program will remain registered in only the full-time format.
As I have noted in other recent change form submissions for other MS programs at NYU, it appears that many of the 3 credit courses run for 14 weeks and not 15. So I can gain a better understanding of the schedule at NYU, please clarify if graduate courses typically run for 14 weeks. If this is the case, how much time do students meet per week for instructional time, per credit hour, to ensure that the semester hour definition is met? [Reference Section 50.1(o) of Commissioner’s Regulations] Please also clarify if the same also applies to undergraduate courses.
