11/22/2024: NYSED responds w/ feedback:
The Office of College and University Evaluation at the New York State Education Department has completed an initial review of New York University’s proposal for a new PHD in Biomedical Sciences. More information is needed to continue our review of this proposal:
In its response to Dr. Cooley’s review, NYU notes that the proposed Biomedical Science program “.. will take the place of the existing programs currently described and referenced by Dr. Cooley.” However, it is not clear from the proposal which programs will be replaced. Please provide a list of all the currently registered programs slated for termination following the implementation of the PhD in Biomedical Science degree. The list should include the program code, program title, and award. Please also provide termination dates for each program so that placeholder programs can be created as needed. The Department agrees to waive the requirement for submission of a separate Change or Adapt a Registered Program form and allow NYU to discontinue the program(s) based on the information already provided.
We ask that the above issues be addressed within 30 business days (Wednesday, January 08, 2025). Responses may be returned to me by email. The Department will deny registration of the proposed action (pursuant to §52.1(l) of Commissioner’s Regulations) if a satisfactory response is not provided within 30 days. The application will not be retained. If the Department denies registration, a new proposal may be submitted at a later date when compliance with all standards can be demonstrated.
