Lindsay emails to follow-up on proposal and notes desired launch of Fall 2025 and related internal deadline of June 1, 2024. Hi Carina, Please let me know if you have any additional questions about the documents we updated. We are hoping you'll be able to send this proposal off to NYSED within the next few days so that we can meet the University's deadline for launching this program with a first class in Fall 2025. I believe they need NYSED approval (and plan codes created) by June 1. |

CK responds to Lindsay's follow-up, requests additional clarification re: credit totals. Hi Lindsay, Thank you for checking in on the proposal for the BS Health and Wellbeing Studies program. We appreciate your patience; our office has been receiving a high volume of proposals and guidance requests in the last few months and this proposal was #17 when it entered the proposal queue. It's always helpful for us to be aware of any internal deadlines you're working toward with program proposals so that we can take that into consideration when reviewing our proposal queue. We hope to finalize our review and prepare for submission within the next week. There is one thing that I've noted and would like to clarify with you re: the Curriculum list. You provided the below clarification: Curriculum List: Please confirm whether "Unrestricted Electives" are unrestricted or are part of the Major credits. Make sure this detail aligns across curriculum documents. Done. Updated version attached. I added this information under "unrestricted electives" to be clearer that these are fully unrestricted electives and not part of the major (my impression was that "unrestricted electives" meant that students may take whatever they want): "Students may use these courses to pursue other interests such as a minor or double major in another field of study." My apologies for not being more clear in my request to confirm these electives. In the curriculum list, the "unrestricted elective" credits (28) appear to be counted under the "Major Requirements" heading (which indicates the total major credits are 68). If the unrestricted electives are unrestricted, then they don't count as a part of the major requirements, which should total 40 credits, not 68, when the 28 unrestricted elective credits are removed from the total major credits. Please confirm that this is an accurate assessment and I can make the necessary changes to the curriculum list. |

Lindsay responds to confirm credits, sends updated curriculum list with correct elective credit designation: Oh my. I had no idea you were working on so many! We appreciate your support and careful attention to detail. Thank you for clarifying how we should count liberal arts, major requirements and other requirements for undergraduate curricula. I'm guessing we've done this incorrectly now for years! You are correct in your math. Please see a corrected Word version of the curriculum list that is now accurate according to these guidelines. |
