03/31/2023 Peter Voltz (PV) sends program change proposal to OAPRA
05/02/2023 AF inquires with Peter Voltz re: how to prioritize the 3 Tandon proposals currently in OAPRA's queue
05/03/2023 Peter Voltz responds, prioritization should be as follows: 1. MS Transportation Systems, 2. PhD Transportation Systems, 3. DEng
05/22/2023 AF provides Pete Voltz with first round of feedback: Since there are major changes being made to the total number of required credits I would provide a graduate program schedule. This will help show NYSED how students will progress semester to semester. Please show both credited work, and non-credit doctoral work.  Since the requirements for the MS are a major component of the PhD degree requirements, I would recommend either adding those requirements to the PhD side-by-side or providing a table (taken from the right column of the MS side-by-side) below the proposal that can be referenced.  Syllabi: please indicate which of the course syllabi provided are new to the university (not just new to the program). Provide syllabi for 1) courses that are new to the university, 2) a representative selection of "transportation related electives" and 3) syllabi for any dissertation related coursework for which students receive credit.
05/30/2023 Pete Voltz responds, requesting a meeting to discuss feedback week of 06/05
06/09/2023 AF and JS meet with Pete Voltz and Joseph Chow of Tandon to discuss OAPRA's feedback. Tandon to address/revise PhD proposal: are there any new courses to the university that will be part of the curriculum? AF notes that MS and PhD proposals, while in the same subject area, should be treated as separate entities. Therefore, Tandon to copy and paste MS requirements into PhD proposal, instead of simply referencing them.
06/09/2023 Joseph Chow submits revised documents based on OAPRA feedback. Joseph notes the following: "for the PhD I was asked to justify the dissertation credits and the change to 75 credits from 90. As far as I know they have been that way since I joined Tandon in 2015. I put down some language but if there's more standard language used across the school please feel free to adopt that."
06/14/2023 JS responds, confirming receipt and informs Joseph that revisions will be completed by EOD 06/15/2023.
06/15/2023 JS provides the following draft response to AF: MS: Narrative section on new concentrations: language on the focus for these has been added, but it is still missing language on learning objectives Table 2 in the change form is still missing the current capstone requirement, and what change (if any) there is between the current and proposed capstone requirements in the “Capstone Update” section of the narrative. PhD: Instead of a graduate program schedule in the proper format, i.e. the form used for NYSED submission: Tandon has created their own schedule here. Is this ok? Missing language in rationale: learning objectives of required electives block Missing in rationale: current dissertation requirements vs. proposed Let me know if you'd like me to respond to Joseph with my above comments (to be modified slightly i.e. they would not be directed towards you).
06/23/2023 JS to meet with Joseph Chow 06/27 to discuss latest revisions and feedback
06/27/2023 JS meets with Joseph to discuss feedback, Joseph to edit the following: For the graduate program schedule: I will confirm with Alex if you need to complete the form we discussed in our meeting. Missing in rationale: current dissertation requirements vs. proposed: please address the change in credits for the dissertation, and any other applicable changes between new vs. old
07/12/2023 JS submits final docs to AF for NYSED submission
07/14/2023 JS and AF meet to discuss final documents, AF instructs JS to move language under table 2 in NYSED form to rationale portion of form. JS completes and sends to AF
07/14/2023 AF sends proposal to NYSED for review
