06/13/2023: NYSED responds, indicating that based on their review, "it appears that this program does not need to be registered and reflected on NYU's Inventory of Registered Programs (IRP). Please refer to the information detailed below. Based on this information, we ask that NYU re-evaluate the requested new program application (SED proposal # 2023-0498) that is currently under review and confirm if the proposal should be withdrawn at this time." NYSED requests the issue be followed up with within 30 days. The following rationale is given:
-
The proposal indicates that the proposed MBA program is to reside at NYU’s Abu Dhabi campus location and that students would be completing the
Doing Business in (DBi) experiential learning course in NYC as part of the program's curriculum.
-
NYU’s IRP identifies an existing MBA in General Management (SED program code 28064) and does not appear to reflect separate MBA programs for the other current DBi locations.
-
The program curriculum detailed in the proposal indicates that the proposed MBA program is a
joint degree between NYU Stern School of Business and NYU-Abu Dhabi and the sample schedule in the proposal reflects an
academic calendar type of 6-week modules. However, the proposal does not identify specifics regarding program design, course locations, residency requirements in Abu Dhabi vs. New York, faculty responsibility for course development, requirements for credit hours for the 6-week courses in terms of instructional time and supplementary assignments as defined in
Section 50.1(o) of Commissioner’s Regulations, etc.
